Get inorganic refuse out

Nov 5th, 2011 | By | Category: Latest News, Local Events

Start digging out the three legged chairs, stoves that no longer cook, fridges that have lost their cool, mowers that can’t cut it, bikes only good for unicyclists and carpet that floors no one.

All those former gems need to be on Tamahere roadsides by 8am on Monday, November 14 to be collected in this year’s inorganic rubbish collection.

The pile of inorganic material must be no bigger than 2m long by 1m wide and 1m high, advises Metrowaste and the Waikato District Council.

It takes up to six days to clear the inorganic refuse so collection may occur any time between November 14 and November 19. Collection will occur on each road only once.

This is what will be collected: furniture (chairs, tables, cabinets etc), lawnmowers, bikes, televisions, carpet, metal items from household renovations (corrugated iron, pipes etc) up to 2m long, appliances (washing machines, stoves, fridges) but only if they can be lifted by two people.

This is what won’t be collected: bagged rubbish, garden waste, tree trimmings, soil, commercial and farm waste, bricks and broken concrete, glass, oil, paint, chemicals, fibrolite, asbestos, builder’s waste, household renovation materials (timber), batteries and gas cylinders, wire, tyres or anything that cannot be lifted by two people.

Collection week depends on the day of the week that your refuse is collected, i.e. Thursday in Tamahere. If your refuse is collected on another day check here to see what week your inorganic collection is.

Call Metrowaste on 0800 571 571 if you have any queries.
