NewsTalk ZB is reporting eyewitness accounts of a massive fire at Turners and Growers coolstore in Hastings this morning.
Listeners calling NewsTalk ZB described an explosion like an atomic bomb going off and said the fire could be seen from 60 miles away.
The Fire Service said a third alarm had gone off, an indication that the fire was getting bigger, the radio station said.

Witnesses said smoke from the blaze could be seen from as far away as Napier as well as at nearby Havelock North, reported the NZ Herald at 9.46am.
Central fire communications shift manager Mike Wanoa said emergency services were called to the fire at the packhouse on the corner of Williams and Tomoana Streets at 9.08am.
Six fire appliances and other support units were at the site.
There had been no reports of injuries, Mr Wanoa said.
Police have issued an immediate alert to all drivers to stay well clear of the area.
Details remain sketchy but police and fire service personnel described it as a “very large fire”.
“We are closing roads in the area,” said Sergeant Andy Dow.
People on a Trade Me message board said that ash was falling on them in Hastings.
Other residents described the traffic build-up as emergency services rush to the scene as “horrendous”.
