The Waikato District Council is considering tightening rural subdivision and residential development rules and is calling for suggestions on the proposal.
Tamahere residents can have their say at a consultation session with the council on Friday, June 4, 4.30pm to 7.30pm, in the Matangi Hall, 478 Tauwhare Road.
Waikato District Council General Manager, Strategy and Support, Tony Whittaker said in a WDC media release that the population of the Waikato District is expected to double in the next 50 years.
“This growth will impact on a number of factors including the environment, infrastructure and the patterns of settlement so it needs to be well managed and sustainable for current and future generations.
“Safeguarding the potential of our rural land means some tightening of the District Plan rules for subdivision and development in rural areas needs to be considered,” he said.
