Glass sculpture lights park

Refraction, the Waikato Sculpture Trust’s annual glass sculpture exhibition starts this weekend at the Sculpture Park at the Waitakaruru Arboretum.
Twenty-six glass artists are taking part in this, the exhibition’s fourth year, including 10 second-year students from the Whanganui Glass School. Visitors will get the opportunity to view a selection of New Zealand’s finest glass artists many of whom are featured in the soon to be launched publication NZ Glass.

Visitors to the Sculpture Park, one of the venues on the Scene Between art trail that includes Tamahere, will see a huge diversity in the glass art, including in technique, expression and scale. A highlight of the walk within the Park is likely to be that the luminous exhibition is set within the rock garden and Asian area. Refraction runs from October 3 to November 14.
