Glass, class at the park

The Waitakaruru Sculpture Park’s annual outdoor glass sculpture exhibition, Re-fraction, is now on and runs until mid-November.

Poppy sculpture by Pam Olver

The Sculpture Park and Arboretum on Scotsman Valley Rd, a member of Tamahere’s Scene Between art trail, will follow the exhibition with school holiday ice sculpture workshops.

Karl Chitham curated the glass exhibition for the Waikato Sculpture Trust, attracting a diverse range of works by artists from throughout New Zealand, including Pam Olver whose poppy sculpture is pictured. Again this year Wanganui Glass School students work is included, along with established artists.

On two successive Thursdays, October 13 and 20, at 11am there will be artist-run workshops on ice carving for groups of adult/child pairs. A fee of $25 covers the workshop and entry to the Park for both. Space is limited to 15 adult/child pairs so booking is essential by clicking here to email Sybille to reserve a place.
