The November 19 market is one of just three markets before Christmas day and is ideal for picking up some of those carefully crafted pieces from the wealth of creative stall holders.

The special Christmas evening market is being held from 4pm to 8pm on December 3, and the last market of the year is on December 17. On at the same time will be the delightful St Stephen’s Christmas Festival – from December 3 to 24 – in which the church and hall will be decorated in the season’s best and there is a chance for one of those rare moments at that time of the year – a quiet sit down and a chat over a cuppa and cake.

The festival is one of the special treats of the season, an antidote to its rampant commercialisation and a oasis of sweet gentleness.

Meanwhile, at Saturday’s market there are also pantries to stock with edible treasures – fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, bacon, venison, salami, cheese, specialty bread and pastries, cakes and biscuits and many another tasty treat.

The Tamahere Market is in St Stephen’s church grounds, corner of Tamahere Drive and Airport Rd from 8am to around 1pm. An antiques and collectors’ fair is held at the same time in the nearby Tamahere Community Centre on Devine Rd where there is also ample parking.
