Beginners’ yoga in June

Yoga workshops for beginners are being offered in Tamahere during June.

Running for four weeks every Thursday, starting on June 7, the classes will be held in the St Stephen’s Church Hall from 9.30am to 11am.

Yoga brings balance to the mind and body, generates a feeling of well-being and improves flexibility and strength, says yoga teacher Saskia Davies.

The yoga class, which will include postures, breathing and deep relaxation will be suitable for everyone including those with no experience in yoga, she says. If there is sufficient interest in the initial classes Saskia will continue offering the classes in subsequent months.

Saskia has been practising yoga for 15 years and teaching for two. She came to yoga from a background in bodywork such as massage and reflexology, and specialsed in pregnancy treatments. She trained as a yoga birth teacher in London and subsequently did many workshops with yoga teachers, including Sandra Sabitini, Linda Dantal, Alex Lorch and Tara Lee.
