Sweet, it’s the market

Sweet! It is sweetcorn season at Tamahere’s March 15 market.

“I can vouch for the sweetcorn at the market,” says Tamahere Market organiser Jane Manson. “It is absolutely fantastic!”

“Now is the time to use it while it’s fresh. It is also fig season and we will have about eight different varieties on offer, and samples to taste.”

For those tempted by small goods, the market also has a wide range of sausages – pork, venison and specialised combinations from Franks Sausages.

To wear off all that eating it may be a good idea to get into the garden. It is time to plant shrubs and trees and there are a wide range of plants available among the market stalls. Orders can also be placed for hedging and standards from the Front Garden.

The Tamahere Market is held in the St Stephen’s Church Grounds, corner Tamahere Drive and Airport Rd, from 8am to 1pm on the third Saturday of the month. Click here for further details.
