Meeting gives local lowdown

Tamahere residents have the chance to hear what changes are being proposed for the area in a public meeting on Monday, April 14.

The meeting, hosted by the Waikato District Council from 7-8pm in the Tamahere Community Centre, will also have information on plans for the wider district and provide a chance for locals to give their viewpoints.

It will be followed at 8pm by the regular monthly meeting of the Tamahere Community Committee, whose meetings are also public.

The earlier council-hosted meeting is part of the council’s planning process and topics to be canvassed will include the design of a new water reservoir and other water services for Tamahere along with information about additional stormwater infrastructure and the new link road construction.

Across the district issues up for discussion will be emergency road work, new footpaths, tankers for rural fire, work on toilets, additional funds for grants and donations, and increases for library, legal services and consent fees, and trade waste and refuse fees.

There will also be information on rate rises.
