Workouts prove popular

Fitness sessions at the Tamahere Community Centre are into their third week with numbers growing at each session, says Dan Amosa of Inferno Tamahere.

The uptake had validated the decision of the Cambridge-based gym to offer group fitness classes in Tamahere, he said.

“If your goal is to get fit and make some positive health changes but you hate the idea of travelling to Hamilton or Cambridge, Inferno Tamahere invites everyone in the local community to stop by and give the sessions are go. The first session is free.”

The fitness sessions are offered every Wednesday and Friday at 6am. It is group exercise in a non-judgmental environment with other members of the community. The class is made up of a warm up and stretch time, skill or conditioning segment and then the main workout.

The workouts are scalable and can be modified to suit individuals.

“The most important thing you can bring is a positive, can-do attitude and you are coached on everything else,” Amosa said.
