November market heralds Christmas

All the Tamahere Market stallholders are gearing up for Christmas and the busiest markets of the year – just three of them left before year’s end.

Soap is a very popular item at the market at the moment and it comes in all shapes, sizes, colours, textures and smells. There are also some big ticket items including original art made out of beehives and stones ground out to hold water or a fire feature.

“It is always exciting to see the new ideas everyone has for Christmas at this coming weekend’s market,” says organiser Jane Manson.

“The November 15 market is the one for pre-silly season browsing and getting in early with present buying.”

Recycled clothing and household items are other thoughtful gift ideas or something for us to splash out on for ourselves after having an eye on that special thing for a market or two.

The Twilight Market is sneaking up on us and December 6 will be here very shortly. It’s a lovely market from 4-6pm where everyone is relaxed and ready to fill those stockings and find a special New Zealand-made gift.

The St Stephen’s Christmas Festival opens on the same day and the church and hall are being decorated now.

It is a time to crank up the real Christmas spirit and enjoy being with friends and family.

The Tamahere Market is held in the St Stephen’s Church grounds, corner of Airport Rd and Tamahere Drive, 8.30am to 1pm, every third Saturday of the month throughout the year, with an additional twilight market in December.
