Tourism talk for Lions

The founder of Taranaki’s inspired Forgotten World Adventures rail trail will be the guest speaker at this month’s Tamahere Lions’ evening meeting.

Ian Balme, a farmer, keen outdoors man and former Waikato Regional Councillor, reclaimed the historic, hundred year old Stratford-Okahukura railway line in 2011, turning it into an award-winning tourism venture.

He will address the Lions’ dinner meeting on Thursday, October 15, from 6.30pm, at Gails of Tamahere, Devine Rd.

The dinner meetings are held regularly on the third Thursday of each month.

Lions in action

Following their two earlier working bees in the Allan Turner Walkway reserve on Woodcock Rd, Tamahere Lions members will be again active in the community this Saturday, October 17.

From 8.30am to 11.30am they will be putting their effort into the Tamahere Reserve, again helping with clearing and planting but also taking a tour of the Tauwhare Rd reserve.
