The Tamahere Reserve now boasts a wide boardwalk and viewing platform alongside the Managone Stream.
The boardwalk, stretching along 200m of stream bank and through rapidly growing, native, wetland bush, is easily reached from the reserve’s Tauwhare Rd carpark.
One visitor recently described the professionally-built boardwalk as “State Highway one” among the reserve’s more humble paths.
Funded by a Waikato District Council community grant, the boardwalk was welcomed by the group voluntarily restoring the nearly 5ha reserve as a sign of the council’s commitment to the four-year-old restoration project.
The board walk provides safer access across wet areas and allows visitors to connect with the stream.
