Lawn bowls are on the agenda for Tamahere Lions next week as the club mixes pleasure with business.

The club, which welcomes new members, has a regular business meeting on the first Thursday of each month at Punnet Café in Newell Road.

It also has a social event each month, on the third Thursday of the month, and on February 18 it will be bowls in Cambridge.

Other social events include dinner and wine tasting, 10 pin bowling or a night at the Cambridge races.

The club’s work in the community includes turning out to help with reserves in Tamahere each second Saturday of the month, including the Allan Turner Reserve.

Members also raise funds for charities, including the Cancer Foundation, and help with marshalling duties at events, as they did recently at the North Island Secondary Schools cycling championships.

One of the club’s money earners is the regular firewood raffle held on Tamahere Market day outside the parking area on Devine Rd.
