Eat your cake and donate it too

Thinking well ahead Tamahere Lions are appealing for people to get in the Christmas spirit early and plan their Christmas cake purchases.

This year the club is working with the Salvation Army to enable people to buy cakes and donate them to brighten a needy family’s Christmas.

It would be a double act of generosity as $5 from the $18 price of the Ernest Adams cakes also goes toward community projects.

“You can purchase your cake from Tamahere Lions and we will give your cake, on your behalf, to the Salvation Army anonymously or in your name,” said Tamahere Lions’ Susan McHugh.

The cakes are, of course, a popular Christmas treat in any household but McHugh suggested that even if cooks make their own Christmas cakes they can still order a Lions cake as a gift.

Cakes ordered now will be delivered around October. Contact Susan McHugh on 021-242-8053 to order or check out the Tamahere Lions Facebook page.
