Movie premier for paralympians

Tamahere Lions are supporting the NZ Paralympic team by screening the soon-to-be released movie 6 Days at the Tivoli Theatre in Cambridge on September 6.

The movie, directed by Toa Fraser, tells the story of the 1980, 6-day armed storming of the Iranian Embassy in London.

The Lions have booked the entire theatre – 140 seats – and half the amount from the $20 tickets will be donated to the Paralympic team.

The movie will commence at 6.30pm and will be followed by a bring-a-plate supper and a mix and mingle, including with members of the Paralympic team, in the cinema foyer.

The move, which stars Abbie Cornish, Mark Strong and Jamie Bell, portrays the April 1980, armed hostage-taking in the Iranian Embassy in Princes Gate, London.

Over six days a tense standoff took place, all the while a group of highly trained soldiers from the SAS prepared for a raid the like of which the world had never seen.
