A fair bumper crop of books

The 21st annual Red Cross book fair promises to be bigger and better when it starts next Friday.

There will be more than 60,000 books at the venue, the Te Rapa Racecourse, off Garnett Ave, Hamilton, from Sept 8 to 10.

They will range over fiction, romance, war, history, drama and non-fiction and will also include a large range of children’s books.

Books sell from as little as $1 and the fair will also include magazines, DVDs and the special Collector’s Corner.

All proceeds go towards supporting and running Red Cross community programmes in the Waikato.

The stalwarts of the Red Cross Book Fair chalk up 21 years

NZ Red Cross is NZ’s leading humanitarian organisation and runs programmes like Meals on Wheels, Community Health Transport, first aid programmes in schools and youth projects all across the Waikato.

The Book Fair will also give people a chance to see the Red Cross Disaster Response Truck, which responds to disasters across NZ and was a key part of helping Kiwis in Edgecumbe recover after their recent floods.
