Tamahere School’s eco warriors have continued to wage war on litter around the school block.
Just before they headed off on holiday and in recognition of Clean Up New Zealand week a clean up crew took to the streets for an end of term tidy up.
They filled three quarters of a large wheelie bin with recyclable objects and the same again with waste.
A good effort by the students and a sad commentary on litterers who toss their waste on the school block, which consists of Devine Road, Wiremu Tamihana Drive, Airport Road to State Highway 1 and back up Devine Road.
“We try to do this clean up once a term and are always surprised by what we find,” said teacher Paula Dunton.
