Tamahere Fine Foods, the first store in Tamahere’s new shopping centre, is expected to open before Christmas.

Owners Satish and Jassie Parmar say the opening date is dependent on obtaining the building consent.

In the meantime, the couple, who have a decade of grocery experience, are putting the finishing touches to two years of planning for the store.

“Our intention is to open a store which will offer a wide range of products and that will also include some specialty and fine food items, Jassie Parmar told Tamahere Forum.

“The store will offer a full range of fresh produce, meat, dairy, deli, frozen goods, all grocery lines, beer and wine, Lotto, flowers and food-to-go.”

The couple also hope to offer NZ Post services.

“We welcome all suggestions for stock and will try to incorporate them as much as we can,” the couple said.

The Parmars are based in Hamilton but plan to move to Tamahere soon.

“We have over 10 years of experience in this industry and are currently running another store. We are seeking approval from Foodstuffs for the store to be a Four Square, and it will offer a fresh new look.

“We are passionate about what we do and are very community-focused. We are looking forward very much to opening the store and look forward to support from the community for it to be successful,” Jassie said.

Highest priority would be “well priced” fruit & veg / milk & bread – the go to items that you run out of.
I guess if the supermarket is as well priced as the larger supermarkets – people may stop even doing their weekly shop elsewhere ! Looking forward to it…
