Tamahere Forum editor Philippa Stevenson has returned home after six months volunteering in the Solomon Islands.

Stevenson, a journalist who founded Tamahere Forum in 2008, was based in Honiara from last September until this month with Volunteer Service Abroad (VSA) on an assignment to educate Solomon Island journalists.

“It was an amazing adventure and I can highly recommend volunteering in international development,” she said of the VSA-funded experience.

Stevenson recorded some of her observations of the Solomon Islands and her experiences there in a series of columns published on Stuff, including reflections on her last days in Honiara.

She was also interviewed for RNZ’s Summer Times here.
