Expressway delays fibre rollout

A delay is likely in the roll out of the ultrafast broadband network in the Cherry Lane and Bollard Road areas.

The hold up comes because of work restrictions placed on contractors Ultra Fast Fibre from the Waikato Expressway construction in the same area.

“The latest we now expect to be able to connect anyone in this area is from 1st September,” said Mike Ryan of UFF.

Tamahere councillor Aksel Bech, who has championed the fibre roll out, said while it was good news that UFF were progressing well through the Tamahere/Matangi/Tauwhare area in rolling out fibre it was bad news that there was a delay around the one cabinet affecting the Cherry Lane, Bollard Rd area.

Any address within the blue area of the map will be impacted by the delay.

It’s also a real shame that some areas are missing out altogether is Tamahere/Matangi due to some arbitrary cut off line. The Oaklea Lane, Pickering Road, Strawberry Fields residents have all missed out on UFB?

We would love to be included.
