Tamahere Reserve has re-opened to the public after work was completed on a number of trees.
The reserve, which is on Tauwhare Rd, is claimed to be a long-tailed bat habitat so extra precautions were taken when completing the work.
The reserve was closed in late March so the work could be done.
Work completed in the reserve included the removal of one pine tree completely and cutting down a second tree to 6 metres. Pruning was also carried out on at least a dozen other trees to minimise the likelihood of any future branch failures.
The Waikato District Council will continue to monitor the trees in the reserve.
