State Highway 1’s northbound lane at Tamahere will be closed overnight Sunday, June 14 for resurfacing.
Road contractor Fulton Hogan advises that a stretch of the highway will be closed from 7pm to 6am for work that it warns nearby locals will be noisy and accompanied by flashing lights and dust.
A detour will take north-bound traffic on to the off-ramp at Airport Rd or SH21, which will them continue through the roundabout on to the on-ramp to re-join SH1.
New asphalt will be applied to the northern side of the expressway’s bridge at the Tamahere intersection with Airport Rd/SH21. Road marking will be re-applied the same night.
The company says the work is weather dependent.
Machinery will be very noisy, the machines have flashing lights and reversing beepers and dust can be generated, the company warned nearby residents to whom it provided ear plugs and jelly beans in a letterbox drop advising of the work.
