Tamahere School’s annual Agricultural Day this Thursday, October 15, promises to be an enjoyable community day.
The school will be open to all – locals, family and friends – to celebrate the children’s achievements and the area’s agricultural heritage.
Judging of a bumper number of animal entries will begin at 9am.
In addition to the lambs and goats which featured last year, this year calves will make a welcome return and a new section for ponies has attracted a large number of entries. There is also two categories for chickens.
A new feature this year is a vegetable garden competition, with judging by Tamahere Garden Club members and prizes donated by Amber Garden Centre.
A grand parade will be held at the conclusion of the judging, just before the prize giving at around 1pm.
Children may take along whatever items of fancy dress they choose for their animal (and themselves if they wish.) Spot prizes will be awarded for best dressed.
There will also be a sausage sizzle, coffee cart and PTA bake stall available on the day.
