Lions invite locals to barbecue

Tamahere Lions are inviting locals to celebrate the newly created barbecue area in Tamahere Park, the club’s inaugural, large community project.

An official opening, picnic and barbecue will be held on Saturday, November 14, from 3pm at the barbecue adjacent to the skatepark and playground on Wiremu Tamihana Dr.

“Take your picnic, we’ll provide the sausages,” says Lions co-president Sue Fookes.

Update: Tamahere Lions regret to advise that the car rally that was to be on this Saturday has been postponed until early 2021. Everyone is still most welcome to attend the BBQ opening this Saturday at 3.00pm.

The Lions started the barbecue project in 2017 as the club’s inaugural, large, community project. It took three years to complete.

“We were grateful for the support and advice from Lions, Tamahere Community Committee and Waikato District Council to get the project underway, and to our sponsors who provided their expertise and funding,” Fookes said.

“We hope the barbecue and seating will be enjoyed by all.”
