A series of State Highway 1 traffic switches are set to affect Tamahere residents and commuters over the next few months.
Time frames are yet to be confirmed following the Covid-19 project shutdown, said NZTA/Waka Kotahi in its latest update of progress on the Waikato Expressway.
It did say that first, traffic lanes will be shifted at the Southern Interchange to provide room to build a large gantry over the expressway to carry large directional signs.
“Then the Bollard Road temporary intersection with SH1 will be closed and local traffic moved onto its permanent access over the East West Link Road.”
The photo below shows the East West Link Road bridge spanning SH1 and a portion of the road which, to the east, will connect to Birchwood Lane. The East West Link Rd will be the permanent access to and from Cherry Lane, Bollard Road and Tamahere Eventide retirement village.
