EVs to charge in Tamahere

Tamahere is to join the electric vehicle (EV) revolution with installation of a public, 50kW DC, fast EV charger at the village centre.

The arrival of the ChargeNet rapid charger will make Tamahere part of a growing nationwide network fast closing on the goal of a charger every 75km along New Zealand’s main state highways.

Electric cars on display

A range of electric vehicles (EVs) will be showcased in Tamahere on Saturday, February 15, 8am to 1pm.

Nearly 19,000 EVs are now registered in NZ and some of the many models available, including Tesla, Nissan Leaf, Hyundai Kona and electric vans, will feature at the event in the Tamahere Community Centre car park.

It will be a chance to talk to EV owners, get information about the current EV situation in New Zealand and what steps are being taken to increase uptake.

EV charger network expands

Waikato electric vehicle (EV) drivers can now confidently put Raglan on their list of destinations as WEL Networks expands its fast charger network.

WEL has worked with the Waikato District Council to provide the central Raglan charger, which should be operational in time for EV-driving summer holidaymakers.

The Raglan site is one of four new EV fast chargers in the Waikato that WEL is installing to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles.
