Tamahere gardens feature

Green-fingered people of Tamahere and Matangi will have their garden creations admired in a fundraiser for Age Concern Hamilton next month.

Ten gardens in Tamahere and Matangi – ever popular in the garden viewing season – will be open from 9.30am to 4pm on Sunday, November 13.

Billed as quirky to stately, the gardens will include rose gardens, a natural water lily pond, and short gully and native plant walks.

Ramble to fund sporting chance

Tamahere features strongly in a fundraising garden ramble for the St Peter’s School athletic team.

Four of the 14 athletes selected to tour California next April are from Tamahere and four of the 15 sites on the Sunday, November 16 ramble are also in Tamahere.

Former Tamahere School pupils Harry Ewing, Matt Scott, Jonty Barry-Leach and Jessica Strick have all made the team.

Gardens wanted for ramble

Tamahere gardeners keen to share their pride and joy are invited to enter their gardens in the St Joseph’s Catholic School Garden Ramble.

The Hamilton school’s fundraising ramble, to be held on Sunday, November 2, already includes one Tamahere garden and organisers are keen for more.

Gardens already in the ramble stretch from Tamahere along the eastern backbone of Hamilton out to Piako Road, said ramble co-ordinator Cherry Dobson.
