Committee members farewelled

The Tamahere Community Committee farewelled some longstanding members last year and held a social function to mark the occasion as well as welcome new members.

Leaving the committee were chair of 12 years Dallas Fisher and Ro Edge, who also served on the committee for a dozen years.

Shelley Howse and Connie Short also left the committee after 6 years.

Underpass set for Airport Rd

The NZ Transport Agency is to fund a pedestrian and cycle underpass of Airport Rd/SH21 – one of several safety black spots in Tamahere.

The action comes after unprecedented protests in Tamahere, including a packed public meeting, and a call to the agency by Associate Transport Minister for safer connectivity for the area.

Tamahere Community Committee chair Sue Robertson welcomed confirmation of the funding for the underpass but said it was just a start.

TCC members beautify grounds

Tamahere Community Committee members have been digging in for a good cause this week in the interests of a lovely and leafy environment.

Committee members including deputy chair Sue Robertson and Leo Koppens, pictured, planted around 160 trees and shrubs to screen an unsightly industrial site from the new recreation reserve.

Also pitching in to beautify the reserve with kahikatea and ribbonwood trees were TCC members Ro Edge and Graham McAdam, and local Keith Robertson.
