Potting to build supply

A potting session at the Tamahere Community Plant Nursery this Sunday (September 6) from 1pm will be aimed at building up the supply of plants for next year.

With warmer weather coming, the intention is to organise a field trip next month to look at restoration sites, says organiser Jan Simmons.

“But for the moment we’ll continue with the potting and weeding and hearing about what people have been doing in their own back yards,” she says.

Plants hot, must pot

Plants from the Tamahere Community Nursery have been in hot demand so the pressure is on volunteers to build up stocks.

“The demand for plants this year has been amazing and there is now only a limited supply of plants left for planting this year,” said the nursery’s Jan Simmons.

The monthly working session at the Devine Rd nursery this Sunday, August 3, at 1.30 pm, will focus on potting on seedlings for next year’s stock of plants for gully restoration.
