Native plants offered for gullies

The monthly workshop at the Tamahere Community Nursery in Devine Road will be held this coming Sunday, May 1 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

There will be plenty of leaves and branches to be cleaned up after this stormy weather, pots to be weeded and seedlings to be potted on.

If you are interested in acquiring eco-sourced native plants for gully restoration go along to the nursery on Sunday afternoon. There is a good selection of plants to choose from at the moment.

Sowing a seed

A workshop on seed treatment and sowing of native plants will be held at the Tamahere Community Nursery this Sunday, April 3.

The session will run from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at the Devine Rd nursery, next to the Tamahere Community Centre and will be run by native plant specialist Wayne Bennett, of Florest Flora.

It will be a practical session on seed sowing and people are welcome to bring seed they have collected for sowing.

Season for seeds, bowls

Tamahere Gully Care’s annual seed collection field trip is on this Sunday, March 6.

The group welcomes people on the trip and to help with propagating and raising plants in coming weeks at its community native plant nursery adjacent to the Tamahere Community Centre.

Also, coming up on Monday, March 7 is the opening night of the Tamahere Indoor Bowling Club.
