Sanson fourth term mayor

Allan Sanson is back for a fourth term as Waikato District mayor, polling more than six thousand votes ahead of his nearest rival.

In the Waikato constituency of the Waikato Regional Council, Fred Lichtwark is back for a second term and is joined by Pamela Storey.

Rob McGuire was returned in the Eureka Ward of the district council where Tamahere Ward councillor Aksel Bech was also returned (unopposed).

Postal, mobile and drive voting

Postal voting is underway in the local body elections and votes need to be in the mail by Tuesday, October 8 to be in time for the close of voting, noon, Saturday, October 12.

If you are running late, a mobile voting box will be at Tamahere’s Punnet Cafe on October 11 from 1pm to 2.30pm.

There will also be drive through voting available at the Matangi Four Square on Tuesday, October 8 between 7.30am and 9am.

Look out for voting papers

Local government voters will be able to cast their votes in the 2019 Waikato District and Waikato Regional Council elections from today.

Voting papers are in the mail and expected to be delivered by Wednesday, September 25.

People who have not received their papers by then should contact Waikato District Council Electoral Officer Dale Ofsoske on 0800 922 822 or visit one of the council offices.
